In March 2018, Sarah was diagnosed with a meningioma. She reached out to brainstrust after searching for help and answers online, and has since received regular support from Jodie, our Midlands Support Specialist, as well as fundraising many thousands of pounds with the support of her husband Paul and their FootGolf Association.
Sarah was a large part in the organisation of the hugely successful inaugural, brainstrust Cup, National FootGolf tournament, which took place back in August, and for the first time the FootGolf Association of England was joined by both the FootGolf Association of Scotland and the FootGolf Association of Wales in competition.
FootGolf is a hybrid of football with golf and uses a football and the rules of golf to challenge players to guide their ball into the larger diameter cups.
The three National teams, a mix of men, ladies, junior and senior players (aged over 45) with 22 players in each squad (plus reserve players), got together on 14 and 15 August at Cluny Activities in Scotland. The players had competed in different competitions regionally and nationally to earn their place to represent their Country.
The tournament raised a very generous £1412 and saw the Scottish National team take Victory and claiming the winner’s trophy, with England coming in second and Wales third. This donation brings the total raised by Sarah and everyone involved in the brainstrust Cup FootGolf events over the years to an incredible £5,886!
The total raised to date by Sarah’s FootGolf tournaments could fund two hours of coaching for 58 people with one of our dedicated Support Specialists, helping them to focus on the thing that matter most to them, so they can live their best day, every day.
Well done to Scotland, and a huge thank you to Sarah, the organising Team and everyone who took part for your amazing support!
Sarah’s fundraising in support of brainstrust has also included husband Paul along with friends Andy, Nik, Dan and Darren taking on a Yorkshire Three Peaks trek, Paul also completed the Manchester Half Marathon and Sarah’s own Run, Row, Ride challenge to complete 30 miles in 30 days, all of which has seen her raise an exceptional, and very generous, total of over £10,400!
Sarah, we can’t thank you, and your family and friends enough for your inspirational support.
