It was announced yesterday that Canadian researchers have engineered a new, non invasive way to deliver medication passed the blood-brain barrier and deep into the brain.

What this could mean for the treatment of brain tumours
This research could change the landscape for what is an intractable disease.
The blood brain barrier is a physical barrier that stops substances travelling across it, to protect the brain. So to find a way of bypassing this barrier could be a significant shift in the way we treat brain tumours.
We are no longer treating cancer but the biology of cancer, making sure that treatments are personal to each patient. But this is all water in the sand if we can’t get the treatments to where they need to be. This research could change that.
It is still early days though and it will be a long time before this goes beyond a phase 1 trial.
brainstrust is presenting at the Society of Neuro-Oncology conference next week and will share more of the latest research news.
