Helping you to understand your fatigue
At brainstrust we know how much fatigue can affect people living with a brain tumour. Whether it’s caused by the tumour itself, or subsequent treatment, fatigue can be debilitating, isolating and make it all the more difficult to get on with things.
Carol, our Support Specialist in Scotland, held her most recent fatigue workshop at the Millennium Hotel in Glasgow’s George Square at the end of November. Here she lets us know how it went, and what feedback she got about the event:
We were delighted to have a mixture of regular attendees and to meet some new first time attendees who soon felt at home making connections over a welcoming coffee and muffins.
What happens at a fatigue workshop?
At our fatigue workshops we look at what is fatigue and why is it different for patients living with a brain tumour diagnosis. Using our fatigue resource we explore the ways that people alleviate their fatigue and feel more in control.
The workshop also gave the attendees the opportunity to meet with others and share their stories in a safe space where they can speak and be heard.
This particular workshop saw those more experienced on their journey help and support people just starting out, sharing thoughts, experiences, highs and lows. To break up the workshop we had a lunch of soup and warm crusty bread, perfect as it was a particularly cold day outside.
What did the attendees think of the event?
All attendees said they would highly recommend attending our workshops – not just for brainstrust’s highly revered coaching and resources but for the opportunity to meet with others in a formal, non clinical setting.
- “It is always beneficial to get together this way and good to hear everyone’s views and ideas. The Fatigue book is really good and I have it at my bedside to refer too”
- “I found it very beneficial to meet others”
- “It would be great to attend any other workshops you may have planned, thank you for running this one and for the invitation”
