On Saturday 28th July, CSC Recruitment took to the bridges of London to raise funds for brainstrust. A team of nine from the recruitment firm participated in the Thames Path Challenge, a 25km walk through the centre of London, crossing 16 bridges along the way.
Why brainstrust?
CSC Recruitment, a London based recruitment firm, are one of the UK’s leading agencies, who specialise in the recruitment of construction professionals. The firm have been brilliant supporters of brainstrust for several years, taking part in a number of challenges to raise funds to support the work that brainstrust does within the brain tumour community. Lauren Meehan, Digital Marketing Manager, said ‘We chose the Thames Path Challenge as it was a new and interesting challenge for us to take part in as a group, across the City in which we work. It felt fun, but was also long enough that it felt like a proper physical test!’
Brainstrust is a charity very close to the hearts of the staff at CSC – two female members of staff, both in their thirties, have been diagnosed with brain tumours whilst working for the company. Lauren added ‘brainstrust has been awesome supporting both of our colleagues, and in each of their cases has helped them meet one of the best brain surgeons in the country, influencing how their surgery to remove the tumours was done.’
How the day went
When the team of nine from CSC took to the streets of London to start their challenge, they were in luck. The sun was shining, morale was high, and everyone was looking forward to the challenge ahead. Some of the team were even wearing fancy dress! Ellie Russell, a consultant at the firm, had this to say. ‘Our Walk was a wonderful success! The fancy dress made for some fun comments along the way from passers-by. Although 25km and 16 bridges seemed like a gruelling task to undertake, the positivity and good vibes from the team carried us through to the finish line. It was a brilliant day and a wonderful challenge for a brilliant charity.’
The fantastic fundraising efforts of CSC Recruitment mean that at the time of writing, they have raised over £1800 for brainstrust. And this figure could yet rise, as consultant Ellie soon takes on a ’24 hours in the wilderness’ challenge.
