Community Matters is John Lewis’ charitable giving scheme that runs throughout shops in the UK. Every 3 months, local stores select three community groups to help, and between November 2014 and January of this year, the Sheffield branch chose brainstrust as one of their three.
Each shop has £3000 to donate in some way to the groups. Customers get to decide how this money is split between the three by using a token, which they get given at a transaction, to vote for the organisation they’d like to support.
We’re pleased to announce that brainstrust received the largest number of votes and thus received an incredible donation of £1,269.23.

Pete Burchill, brainstrust’s Support Specialist and Volunteer Manager for the North, has underlined the importance of the donation:
“These funds will be spent helping children and families in Sheffield and the surrounding area get back on top of things following a terrifying brain tumour diagnosis. This donation will mean that we can do more locally to bring together patients and carers to share their experiences with people who really understand.”
Thank you to John Lewis Sheffield for choosing brainstrust to benefit from the scheme, and thanks to all the shoppers who voted for us.
