A few years ago, brain tumour patient Suzanne Wag raised nearly £1000 for brain tumour support by celebrating the British cuppa, but this year she wanted to do something more challenging, for herself.
She thus decided to swap tea for a 10K and chose to compete in the St David’s Day Run, in order to raise money for brainstrust.
“braintrust have been fantastic in supporting me through the whole journey, even now as I await results from my latest MRI to see if the pesky thing is back”
The 10k took place on Sunday, almost two years to the day since Suzanne underwent brain surgery for her tumour. The run was also her first since the surgery, and she came in at an impressive 59min 44secs.
To ensure it was clear that she was running for brain tumour support, Suzanne’s mum knitted her a brain hat to wear on the day.
Suzanne has already exceeded her fundraising target for the 10k on her JustGiving page. Any further donations, as a ‘well done’ to Suzanne, will help brainstrust build a support service so that we can help more patients, like Suzanne, feel less afraid in the face of a terrifying brain tumour diagnosis.
Thank you Suzanne for deciding to choose a 10k over tea and cake, a decision we’re sure wasn’t so easy. You’re amazing.
