On Saturday 13th February the Chapter Art Centre in Cardiff became home of the fourth annual Great Charity British Bake Off. The day brought around 25 amateur bakers together, along with cake eaters and supporters, in order to raise money for our support service.
Cakes were judged and awarded in the four categories, from most delicious, cutest cupcake, best decorated and Under 12s. The winners were sent home with a shiny new trophy to pop on their mantlepieces.
It was Steffan Edwards, one of our amazing supporters, who organised the event and he’s fully aware of how much the day will make a difference to those who we help:
“We managed to raise an incredible £539.90 for brainsturst, which will help the charity supply 10 Brain Boxes to families, or cover a print run and distribution of their resources. We’re extremely proud to be able to help such an important cause, and we look forward to running it again in 2017”
As Steffan mentioned, the every penny of the funds raised on the day will go towards our resources, which help people living with a brain tumour to feel less afraid, less alone and more in control on their journey.
We’ve said it before- brain tumour support really is built on CAKE!
If you, like Steffan, would like to do something special for brain tumour support, then we’ll help you with it every step of the way. If cake is your thing, then why not join our TEAFEST campaign or if you’re wanting to put on your own event, just let us know by emailing tessa@brainstrust.org.uk.
