The 10th running of the brainstrust Bass Belle 10 miler (in Bassingbourn) went ahead last Sunday (24th) despite the best efforts of Storm Bert to interfere. Following a 6.00am course inspection by event organiser Ash Hawkins, 312 hardy souls runners then braved the conditions to raise around £20,000 for y brainstrust. In spite of the atrocious weather some runners beat their PBs including Mark Pearce, who was the race winner in a new course record time of 52 minutes. Winner of the female category was Emma Hodson with a time of 63 mins and 30 seconds. The race also had a new category for the under 18s and winners were Murray Heal and Cerys Bithell.
