Rocking out for brainstrust
Earlier this month Porthcawl, South Wales, saw and heard what was the first, but perhaps not the last, PhilFest charity music event dedicated to and in memory of Phil Jones.
Organised by Phil’s son, Jamie, the event brought together a total of nine bands and was hosted at The Hi-Tide to raise funds for brainstrust.
This isn’t the first time Jamie has coordinated something special to support the brain tumour community, and you may remember a story we shared last summer of his Welsh Three Peaks team challenge which raised £2,068.97 to support the creation of a web-based Glioblastoma (GBM) resource.
We are delighted to report that PhilFest was a complete sell-out! With demands that it returns for 2023, we could see it become an annual summer fixture. PhilFest t-shirts were also available for all festival goers and going on the feedback from the event, who knows, maybe they could become collectors’ items!
Reflecting on PhilFest Jamie said, “The event was a great success and could only have been done due to the fantastic musicians that jumped at the opportunity to perform at the festival. The atmosphere was electric and it seems like PhilFest will be back soon!”
PhilFest raised an inspirational £2,506!
We’d like to make some noise and send a tuneful thank you to Jamie, all the performers, and everyone who supported this event for their wonderful support!
