Palliative care webinar
Let’s talk about palliative care.
There are so many misconceptions about what palliative care is and what it involves. It’s about improving the quality of life of anyone facing a life threatening condition and includes physical, emotional and spiritual care but it’s sometimes a difficult topic to know where and when to start the conversation.
We have invited `Professor Anthony Byrne, Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and Clinical Director of the Marie Curie Research Centre at Cardiff University to host this webinar. Anthony will be exploring public perception of what palliative care means, and giving a clinician’s perspective on how palliative care works to support patients and families. Given the distinctive impacts that a diagnosis of brain tumour has on a person and those close to them, he will discuss how the multi-professional approach of palliative care can add value by integrating early on with neuro-oncology and neurosurgical team support. In discussion with the audience he is looking forward to exploring the opportunities which good palliative care support can offer and also perhaps help dispel some common misconceptions about the role of palliative care in that way.
