With 120km’s of closed roads and with an elevation gain of 1430 metres, the Tour O’ The Borders sportive event takes place over some of the most scenic and challenging roads in the Scottish Borders.
After dislocating his shoulder with less than a month before race day, it was hit and miss for John whether he would be fighting fit to take on this challenge. Despite this set back, on Saturday 3rd of September, John (seen in pink) was able to join the masses on the start line in Peebles alongside his brother.
‘We really enjoyed, it but it certainly was tough in the wind and rain, especially up the steep hills. But the macaroni pies at the food stops kept us going! It was also made a lot harder after injuring my shoulder, so I was certainly glad to see the finish line after 6.5 hours’
John chose to participate in this event in memory of his Father in law Dev, and in doing so raised an incredible £2000.00. An absolutely phenomenal amount of money that will go such a long way helping those who need it the most.
