Santa Claus is coming to town… in June?!
Residents of Romford, Essex were no doubt confused to see Santa running through their high street last week in 25 degree heat and sunshine. Jimmy Edgar, long standing friend and supporter of brainstrust, usually runs the Santa Run to fundraise for brainstrust each December, but last year Covid put paid to these plans.
Undeterred, Jimmy decided to instead mark the 40th anniversary of his brain tumour surgery by running dressed as Santa instead!
Taking on the run in the beautiful sunshine, we can’t quite believe that he managed this! Jimmy said:
“I usually do the Santa Run at Christmas for brainstrust but it was obviously cancelled last year, so I thought I’d do it on my own on the day of the 40th anniversary of my brain cancer surgery to raise some money and awareness of our fantastic charity.
Just wished I’d known how hot it would turn out to be. Phew 🥵”
Jimmy managed to raise an incredible £550 for his Santa dash, money that will help to ensure that brainstrust continue to be here to support anyone with a brain tumour diagnosis, and their families. Thank you Jimmy – you’re a Christmas and summertime legend!
