She Wears it Well
On Monday night, brainstrust founder, Dr Helen Bulbeck (Director of services and policy), hosted her first ever ‘She Wears it Well’ event on the Isle of Wight. Ladies from across the island came along to donate the clothes they no longer wear, and set their sights on the jam-packed rails ready to find a few new pieces to add to their collection. This luxury clothes sale was a recipe for success, as Dr Helen describes below:
The inaugural She Wears it Well event went off with a flurry of corks popping in Cowes on Monday evening. It was a huge success with over £600 raised to support the brain cancer community. It couldn’t fail – women, champagne, clothes all in the same space, rifling through racks of posh frocks, all so generously donated by the community. Huge thank you to Sue for loaning her house and time, Ken for being the cork popper, and all the other help we received in sifting, hanging, labeling and haute couturing. This event will transform the lives of 12 families who can now receive a brain box, or 40 people who can now attend a brainstrust thrive well event. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this such a success.
As mentioned above, every item on the rails raised vital funds for brainstrust. In the spirit of giving, guests could choose whether to donate 50% or 100% of the proceeds raised through the sale of their donated goods. Charitable entrepreneurship at its finest!
