Forest Games Triumph for Charlotte’s “I Believe I Can” Fund of Hope
Saturday 21st September marked the first ever Forest Games, taking place at The Green Dragon, Brook in the heart of Hampshire. Under sunshine and blue skies, the crowds appeared ready to either tackle the course or cheer the contestants on. With trophies in sight, six local teams competed in both individual and group events in hope to be crowned the winner.
Throughout the day, an incredible £2,300 was raised, and we would like to thank everyone who contributed towards this huge success. Organised by Charlotte’s “I Believe I Can” Fund of Hope, the Forest Games is a welcomed addition to the Smith family’s continued fundraising efforts in loving memory of Charlotte. Charlotte was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in 2017, and passed away 11 months later, aged just 16. As a lasting legacy, Charlotte’s family continue to raise funds in support of the brain tumour community, and are proud to have achieved in excess of £99,000!
The Forest Games will return in 2020 in hope to become an annual event celebrating the tradition of old-school country games. Following an infectious atmosphere made up of community spirit and competitive drive, the games are due to expand next year. 2019 winners, ‘The Village People’, will return to compete against seven teams hoping to steal their trophy.
