Today, November 15th, TV presenter Davina McCall shared on social media that she has been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Davina shared her Colloid Cyst brain tumour diagnosis on instagram. She tells us that it was found incidentally and will require surgery.
Of the diagnosis, she says she is naturally worried about the upcoming procedure, but asked others not to worry as well.
About Colloid Cysts
A non-malignant brain tumour like a Colloid Cyst can, for many, bring long term debilitating symptoms, anxiety and uncertainty. The treatment is also invasive. Any brain tumour diagnosis is life-changing. People with a Colloid Cyst tell us that they feel forgotten, falling between the cracks in the healthcare system. Whilst the tumour is non-malignant, it is far from benign. It can cause huge anxiety and uncertainty and with potential for harm caused by surgery and the tumour itself.
Mariel Compton-James, brainstrust Support Specialist says, “People with a colloid cyst, a rare type of non-malignant brain tumour, often face feelings of isolation due to the condition’s rarity. Having a public figure like Davina McCall come out and talk about it is quite helpful for our community. Wishing her strength and a smooth recovery.”
