When Cheryl was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2017, she was originally told it was inoperable. After reaching out to brainstrust for support and advice, she was pointed in the direction of seeking a second opinion at a London hospital. Following the second opinion, the Neurosurgeon deemed Cheryl as a suitable candidate for surgery, and she underwent a 14 hour awake craniotomy.
Following Cheryl’s surgery, she has stayed in touch with brainstrust and has previously organised fundraising events at work as a way of raising funds and awareness.
In May, with the support of family and friends, Cheryl organised a charity football match for brainstrust at the Oval in Bedworth which raised over £500 for brainstrust.
The charity football match for brainstrust was a great success; three teams took part, with the 30 players ranging from the age of 9 to 60. Food and drinks were available for attendees; making it a real community occasion.
After the success of the football match, Cheryl’s family and friends, led by Adrian Pinnegar and Ryan Barnacle; who were the main organisers of the football match are looking to do even more fundraising for brainstrust- something for which we are incredibly grateful to her for.
