In partnership with the clinical and research community, we are looking for your questions about living with a brain tumour to help direct areas of research that are important for patients in future.
At the moment, brain tumour research in the UK doesn’t feel very unified. We are working with all the right people, and of course that includes patients and carers to solve this.
How? Well it’s simple. We need your questions.
You ask the questions that are important to you about any aspect of living with a brain tumour. We then review the questions to identify the top ten priorities according to the brain tumour community. These priorities then drive the research agenda in the UK, making a difference to all.
This project is so simple, yet it willl be cohesive, effective and impactful – setting the agenda for brain tumour research for years to come.
For example, you may have a question about any of the following:
- Brain tumour diagnosis
- Prevention
- Brain tumour treatment
- Tumour-related symptoms (e.g. epilepsy, headaches, poor sleep)
- Neuro-rehabilitation
- Palliative care
- End of life care
Collaboration
We are not working on this alone. This is an important partnership with the James Lind Alliance (JLA), and the Cochrane Collaboration, clinicans, researchers and charities. To see the full scale of the people involved, click here.
The JLA is a non-profit initiative, established in to bring patients, carers and clinicians together to identify and prioritise the top 10 uncertainties, or ‘unanswered questions’, about the effects of treatments that they agree are most important.
The Cochrane Collaboration is an international organisation, that provides reliable information to help ensure that treatments do more good than harm. They identify gaps in knowledge about treatment effects and identify uncertainties, addressing those that are deemed to be sufficiently important.
