We’re delighted to announce that Sydney 2000 Olympic gold medal winner Richard Faulds MBE is once again organising a charity shoot in remembrance of his father Bruce who sadly died from a brain tumour in 2010.
Proceeds from the event, taking place on 8th September 2012 at Richard and Tanya Faulds’s Owl’s Lodge Shooting School in Barton Stacey near Winchester, will be given to charity brainstrust so that they can continue their work in helping patients with brain tumours to access the best information, diagnosis, research and help.
Richard and Tanya have held this event for the last two years and although they were very busy in the run up to the Olympics in London they were adamant that this charity event should take place. “As everything in the last few years has led up to the Olympics, I thought it only fitting to pay tribute again to my father who helped me so much both with inspiration and support to help me achieve my best. By holding this charity shoot and by encouraging people to enter, and have fun, we are able to donate much-needed funds to brainstrust. Brain tumours are still a hugely underfunded illness in the UK and we, as a family, know this so well having lost Dad so quickly once he was diagnosed, that anything I can do to help I will.”
Richard’s Olympic gold medal was won at the 2000 Olympics for the men’s double trap. He has also competed in numerous other competitions, including the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics and he has won 19 World Sporting Championships, 11 European Championships, Tanya also has British, European and World Titles to her name. Richard and Tanya, along with their son Charlie and daughter Lauren live in Highclere, Hampshire.
Helen Bulbeck, Director of Services here at brainstrust, said, “brainstrust is delighted that Richard and Tanya have agreed to hold this wonderful shoot at their school again. Richard does masses of great work as a patron of brainstrust and we are very grateful for their continued support!’’
