Huge congratulations to Ravi Adelekan, the inspirational 8 year old boy who has just been awarded the “Child of Courage” award at the ITV Pride of Britain Awards.
In September 2021 Ravi was diagnosed with a brain tumour critically close to his brain stem. Ravi subsequently had to undergo 10 hours of surgery. To mark the first anniversary of his operation, Ravi gathered together a world renowned group of musicians and celebrities to produce an amazing cover of The Greatest Showman’s “A Million Dreams”. Recorded to raise money for charity, the song is a reflection of Ravi’s dream that all children with brain tumours can get all the help they need. To date Ravi has raised over £86,000 with the money to be split between brainstrust and the Brain Tumour Charity. Ravi however is not stopping here. His next endeavour is a fashion show on the 25th November, featuring top designers and all being modelled by children with brain tumours. We’re sure it will be absolutely fabulous!
Will Jones, brainstrust CEO, says, “The hugest of congratulations to Ravi on his Child of Courage award. It is entirely deserved. Ravi has not only been the epitome of courageous on this journey with his brain tumour diagnosis, but remains utterly selfless. His passion for helping others come to terms with their diagnosis, his energy and his magic has galvanised a wonderful band of supporters, patients, caregivers and donors around him. He has been nothing short of the perfect ambassador for brainstrust’s work and our Wear Grey campaign to raise awareness of brain tumours and the need for more support and investment in research and treatments. Ravi, we hope you enjoy every moment and every highlight this award brings your way, and we are are looking forward to working with you to make your dreams come true”.
You can watch Ravi receive his award (from a very special group of people) tonight on ITV at 8pm – will you be joining us to cheer for Ravi?
