When siblings Layla and James decided to take on Ben Nevis, it wasn’t just about reaching the summit – it was about love, memories, and making a difference.
Their Grandad sadly passed away from a brain tumour in July 2024, and they wanted to do something special to remember him and make him proud. Taking on the UK’s highest peak was no small task, but their determination and love carried them every step of the way.
We decided to climb Ben Nevis for brainstrust because our Grandad died of a brain tumour in 2024 and we miss him so much. We wanted to do something to remember him and make him proud.
The climb was really hard at times, but we kept going because we knew why we were doing it. When we got to the top, it felt amazing!!
If anyone is thinking of doing something like this, we would say definitely do it! It feels so good to finish a big challenge and to know you’re helping other people too.
Thanks to Layla & James’s incredible efforts, they raised £409.98 for brainstrust – an amount that could fund 10 brain boxes, providing vital support and resources for people living with a brain tumour.
If you’ve been inspired by their story and would like to take on your own challenge for brainstrust, you can find ideas and resources here.
Every step you take helps make a difference!
