Dr Phoebe McCrorie is exploring a novel approach for identifying drug targets in high grade glioma. She is using a compound called 5-ALA, which causes malignant glioma cells to fluoresce under specific lighting conditions. This helps distinguish tumour cells from healthy brain tissue and allows her to identify proteins that are uniquely present in cancer cells.
The goal of this research is to better understand how these proteins might be used to guide the development of more targeted treatments for high grade glioma in the future.
As part of this session, Dr McCrorie would like to share her research with members of the brain tumour community and invite your thoughts, questions, and perspectives. This focus group is an opportunity for open discussion, where your experiences and insights can help shape how research is understood, communicated, and applied.
