Jo and David Proctor live in Lincolnshire. In October 2025, Jo was diagnosed with glioblastoma. Since then, she has undergone six weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, followed by six rounds of chemotherapy, each involving five days of treatment and 23 days of rest. Jo has now reached the end of a three-month treatment break and is awaiting the results of her latest MRI scan to understand what the next stage of her journey might look like.
Below, Jo and David share their story in their own words, including how Lindum Cricket Club held a golf day fundraiser in support of Jo. You can also visit Jo’s website to read more about her diagnosis and her experiences.
“We chose to support brainstrust because they were there with support and literature when our tumour journey began. They have always been available to talk to, for information and support whenever it has been required or needed.
Lindum Cricket Club held a golf day where the profits would be donated to a charity partner chosen by the club. Of all the charities proposed the committee unanimously chose to support brainstrust as they wanted to support a cause supporting a family connected to the club.
Held on 14th August, at the height of summer, the course was in great shape, the greens keepers even watering the greens before the day began. 17 of the 18 tees had four-balls ready to tee-off as the claxon sounded and this was the start of four hours of variable quality of golf which was enjoyed by everybody.
brainstrust were based at the tee of the 17th hole, par three over a lake which now has several additional balls sitting at the bottom of it. This was also the position for the ‘nearest the pin’ competition!
The ‘champagne moment of the day’, or ‘shot of the day’, was awarded to Patrick whose ball, while finding the water, also survived as it skimmed across the lake to end up at the far side of the green.
Not many people are aware of the different types of brain tumour, and the journey ahead for anyone diagnosed with one, but brainstrust can help people along the new path their lives, and those of loved ones, will now take.
We would recommend people fundraise for brainstrust because they are knowledgeable, friendly helpful and informative and this is their main income revenue, alongside sales of merchandise.”

A huge thank you to Jo, David, everyone at Lindum Cricket Club, and all those who supported this incredible event. £2,014.20 was raised for brainstrust, helping us continue to support people and families affected by brain tumours.
