Background
Early-stage clinical trials are an important first step in developing new treatments, but deciding whether a child should take part can involve difficult decisions around risks, potential benefits and what to expect.
PRIME by brainstrust is supporting researchers who want to work in partnership with parents and caregivers of children and young people affected by brain tumours to better understand how families approach decisions about early-stage trials. Your perspectives can help researchers understand what information families need, what influences decisions about taking part, and what support and safeguards should be in place.
Who can get involved?
We are looking for:
- Parents and caregivers of a child or young person affected by a high grade brain tumour
- No previous research experience is needed- we simply ask that you bring your own experiences and perspectives
What will you do?
Join a 90-minute online workshop with brainstrust to explore your perspectives on early-stage clinical trials for children and young people with brain tumours.
We’ll talk about what you would want to know when considering a new treatment for your child, what might influence decisions about taking part, and what support or safeguards would matter to you and your family.
This will be a small, informal conversation with no scientific knowledge needed. Your perspectives will help shape how researchers approach early-stage trials and the needs of families considering taking part.
Please note that these workshops will take place online via Zoom. You’ll receive joining details after registering.
