SUMMARY:Focus Group: The Role Of The Neurologist In Brain Tumour Care - for people living with a low grade or non-malignant brain tumour\, including caregivers
DESCRIPTION:Most people living with a brain tumour will meet a neurosurgeon and an oncologist but where does a neurologist fit in? Many of us don’t know\, and that matters\, because so much of what affects daily life – so seizures\, headaches\, cognition\, fatigue – sits squarely within a neurologist’s expertise. \nWe’re delighted to be hosting Dr Gerald Finnerty\, Senior Lecturer Honorary Consultant Neurologist at King’s College Hospital and a member of the Tessa Jowell Brain Cancer Mission\, for an open conversation with our community. Rather than assuming what patients need\, he is coming to us first – to listen\, to learn what you want from a neuro-oncology service\, and to use your insight to make the case for change. \nThis is an informal\, open discussion – no slides\, no jargon\, no preparation required. We’ll share a few questions in advance so you can gather your thoughts\, but the session will be led by what matters to you. Topics might include: what you understand a neurologist’s role to be\, what’s missing from your current care\, and what “living well with a brain tumour” means to you. \n  \nWhen: 20 July at 3pm  \nWhere: Online via Zoom – a link will be sent when you book\nWho: People living with a low grade or non-malignant brain tumour and their caregivers \n  \nPlease be advised this meetup will be held via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link and Meeting ID with your ticket.

SUMMARY:Life After Radiosurgery: what matters most to people living with meningioma
DESCRIPTION:Hear from medical physicist and researcher Anna Bangiri as she shares findings from the CoDe-B-Rad study\, exploring quality of life and cognitive changes following stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for meningioma. \nWhile radiosurgery is an effective treatment for many people living with benign brain tumours\, we still know relatively little about how people experience life in the months and years that follow. Through CoDe-B-Rad\, Anna’s research focuses on what matters most to people after treatment\, including memory\, concentration\, thinking\, and day-to-day quality of life. \nAt the heart of this study is the voice of people affected by brain tumours. During the early stages of the research\, PRIME worked alongside Anna to bring together people with lived experience whose insights helped shape the study\, ensuring it measured outcomes that genuinely matter to patients rather than only clinical measures. \nDuring this webinar\, Anna will explain what the study found\, how patient involvement influenced the research from the very beginning\, and how these findings are helping researchers refine stereotactic radiosurgery to better protect long-term cognitive function and quality of life. \nThere will also be an opportunity to ask questions and join the discussion. \nWhether you took part in the study\, have experience of meningioma or stereotactic radiosurgery\, or are simply interested in learning how lived experience is shaping future treatment\, we would be delighted to welcome you. \nWho is this event for? \nPrimarily people living with\, or affected by\, meningioma\, particularly those who have undergone or are considering stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS). As this is an educational webinar\, everyone with an interest in brain tumour research and the role of lived experience in improving treatment is welcome to attend. \nPlease be advised this meetup will be held via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link and Meeting ID with your ticket.

SUMMARY:Hypnotherapy for Calmness and Confidence Through Processes (online session)
DESCRIPTION:Face scans and procedures with calmness and confidence. \nMedical procedures such as scans\, treatments and hospital visits can trigger strong anticipatory responses in the brain. Even when we understand the purpose of a procedure\, the brain may still respond with fear\, muscle tension and heightened alertness. \nThis session focuses on preparing both mind and body for medical procedures. \nParticipants learn practical techniques using hypnosis\, breathwork and psycho sensory skills that help guide attention and reduce the brain’s stress response. \nThese techniques can be used before appointments and during procedures to help create a greater sense of confidence and steadiness. \nUnderstanding what is happening in the brain during moments of stress often helps people approach procedures with greater clarity and control. \n  \nProgramme Participation \nThis workshop is primarily designed for new attendees who would like to learn the core skills of the programme. Previous participants are very welcome to revisit the workshop as a refresher\, and many find returning once a quarter helpful for reinforcing their learning. Weekly Reset sessions run every week and all participants are welcome to attend these regularly – please contact hello@brainstrust.org.uk for more details. Participants may also join the ‘Hypnotherapy for Calmness and Confidence Through Processes’ and ‘A Dose of Neuroscience’ sessions whenever they wish. \n  \nAbout Louise Baker \nLouise Baker MSc is an applied neuroscientist and hypnotherapist who specialises in translating neuroscience into practical wellbeing tools. She holds a Master’s degree in Neuroscience and the Psychology of Mental Health from King’s College London and works alongside brainstrust supporting people living with brain tumours and their carers.

SUMMARY:High Grade Brain Tumour Community – online meetup
DESCRIPTION:Living with a high grade (grade 3 or 4) brain tumour can feel isolating. This online group offers a supportive space to those who understand. \n\n\n\n\nThis informal online group is for people living with a high grade (grade 3 or 4) brain tumour diagnosis – and their supporters. \nThere’s no set agenda and no pressure to talk. Just join us for a relaxed space to connect with others who truly understand what you’re going through. Whether you feel like sharing or simply listening\, you’re welcome. \nWe understand that tumour classification can be confusing. Tumours change over time\, and recurrence can bring new challenges. Even non-malignant tumours can be life-altering. Following the World Health Organisation’s reclassification of brain tumours\, we’ve renamed our groups to better reflect the needs of our community. \nIf you’re living with a grade 3 or 4 diagnosis\, this group is for you. And if you’re not sure where you fit – please ask. We’re here to help. \n\nPlease be advised this meetup will be held via Zoom. You will receive the Zoom link and Meeting ID with your ticket.
