SUMMARY:Help shape future research on stroke and low grade glioma
DESCRIPTION:Background\nResearchers are exploring the relationship between brain tumours and stroke\, and how people affected by brain tumours could be better supported if a stroke occurs. There are still important unanswered questions\, as much of what we know about stroke treatment and prevention comes from research involving people without a brain tumour. \nPRIME by brainstrust is supporting a research team in the early stages of developing a potential study in this area. \nBefore plans are developed further\, researchers want to work alongside people affected by low grade glioma to shape the research. Together\, we’ll explore whether the proposed research feels worthwhile\, what taking part could mean for people diagnosed with low grade glioma\, and what should be prioritised as the study develops. \nWho can get involved?\nWe are looking for: \n\nPeople living with low grade glioma\nCaregivers\, family members and loved ones of someone affected by low grade glioma\nYou do not need to have experienced a stroke to take part. No previous research experience is needed- we simply ask that you bring your own experiences and perspectives.\n\nWhat will you do?\nJoin a 90-minute online workshop with brainstrust to help shape this early research. \nWe’ll explore your thoughts about research into preventing strokes\, what taking part in a future study might mean alongside living with a low grade glioma\, and what researchers should consider when deciding what to measure and how a study should work. \nThis will be a small\, informal conversation with no scientific knowledge needed. Together\, we’ll explore what matters most to people affected by low grade glioma and how this can shape the research from the outset. \nPlease note that these workshops will take place online via Zoom.
