And she clearly has the running bug
Here’s what she sent us:
Having completed the Belfast Marathon on 5 May this year, I have definitely got the bug now! I am hoping to do Dublin in October and will be doing Belfast again next year. Thanks so much for all your help and advice, I was very proud to wear my Brainstrust t-shirt!
Best wishes
Vic
Well done Vic, you really make it look fun! And THANK YOU for raising so much for brainstrust – a whopping £900.

Hi again,
Ran 12 miles last night and I can safely say it did not stop raining once! It was pretty grim and cold, but I’m glad I stuck at it. My run took me from where I work in Old Street all through Central London and out to Earls Court, where I turned to run by the River Thames and back to Charing Cross Station, where at last I could get changed in to some dry clothes! I’ve decided to up my long run every week by 2 miles so with a month to go I should be up to 18 miles and hopefully in good shape. Will update again soon.
Cheers James

James is running with brainstrust in the 2010 London marathon, and will be updating us with his training progress as he goes…
Hi there,
After a slow start, I am getting there! I ran a lot of hills in Tenerife on a family holiday 2 weeks ago, running 4 out of the 6 days I was there, that seemed to give me the kick start I needed. Over the last week I have done a total of 21 miles. My top distance was 8 miles across London including a cracking stage through Hyde Park, it felt ok, but boy did I ache the next day. Quick 3 miles tonight and then the biggest run yet tomorrow as I plan 10 miles after work. Will let you know how it went!
Cheers James

Victoria Wightman - running for brainstrust
Victoria’s fab! She’s just sent us a message about her marathon training. Hopefully she’ll be keeping us up to speed with her progress as she trains for the Belfast City Marathon, and we can in turn keep you all up to date with how she’s getting on:
Hello! I’m Victoria and I am running the Belfast City Marathon this May for Brainstrust. I am up to 15 miles now and starting to really get excited about the big event! I have always hoped that one day I would run the marathon and I have been inspired to go for it this year by my friend Andy.
Andy passed away last year following the diagnosis of a brain tumour. Andy ran the London marathon and I remember how impressed I was because I always thought it must be such a challenging experience. I hope he would be glad that I am going to do one too. I decided to run for Brainstrust because I truly feel it is a cause that is close to my heart. When I researched into the charity’s values and future plans, I wholeheartedly agree with their intention to divide the support they receive between both research and palliative care.

After this year’s resounding success, we’re on with securing places for next year’s Royal Parks Half Marathon. If you’re interested in running for charity with team brainstrust, then drop me an email – will@brainstrust.org.uk, or call on 07855 987340. Once again, all we’ll ask is that you raise enough money to cover your entry, which is normally about £120.

There are plenty of pictures from the charity run round the Royal Parks on our Flickr pages, here: flickr.com/brainstrust. There are a few to be going on with below.

Team brainstrust is coming together again to enter a team into the Mornington Chaser’s 10k on 1st November. The Mornington Chasers 10k is a mixed ability race, all within the confines of beautiful Regents Park. Officially it’s a series, with a race on the first Sunday of the month running from October to March, starting at 9:00 am, at the moment we’re looking to make one appearance on the 1st Nov.
So, did you miss out on a place in the Royal Parks? Fancy running for charity (for the best team!)? Or are you running in the Royal Parks Half Marathon and fancy ANOTHER challenge?! If so, register here , make sure to set up a justgiving page, and give Josh a shout – josh@brainstrust.org.uk

I can’t believe it, we’ve got 100 runners taking part this year! The brainstrust running team has grown enormously since last year. In the first Royal Parks Half Marathon our team of 57 runners achieved some magnificent results including Ian’s amazing run – he came 4th overall out of 13,000 runners.
Together last year’s Royal Parks Half team also managed to raise over £20,000 for brainstrust. A sterling effort by anybody’s standards, and for more than half of them it was their first half marathon. So thanks again to everyone who took part last year and set the bar so high.
This year I’m even more excited…
