  • Cancer Research UK announces £25million investment in brain tumour research

    Exciting news – and not before time. For some years now Cancer Research UK (CRUK) has shown a real commitment to funding brain tumour research, increasing its funding share to 8%. Now CRUK is pushing the research agenda forward and is committing £25million over the next five years so that two Centres of Excellence can be established – purely for brain cancer research.

    What does this mean for our community?

    It means that at long last there will be a dynamic, multidisciplinary research community in the UK. It means too that the infrastructure required to facilitate innovation in the field, and create hubs of expertise will become established.   • Public Health England (PHE) Cancer Data and Outcomes Conference 2017

    Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th June - Manchester 

    The PHE Cancer Data and Outcomes Conference 2017 brings together patients, carers, clinicians, commissioners, academics and charities to showcase the latest developments and opportunities for using data to drive improvements in services, treatment and patient experience both nationally and locally. This year’s conference will cover the breadth of the patient pathway and explore the use of data at all stages including prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and end of life. 

     

    The conference will take place on Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th June in Manchester. Patient bursaries are available for people affected by cancer and carers. The bursaries will cover the conference registration fee, travel to and from the conference and overnight accommodation for Tuesday 13th if needed.

     

    To register your interest please send an email to events@phe.gov.uk. You will be asked to complete a bursary application form. All applications will be considered after the closing date of 24th March and those that have been awarded a bursary will be notified by mid-April.
