The Great South Run for brain tumour supportBe great for brain tumour support - join team brainstrust at the 2014 Great South Run.
The fast and flat 10 mile Great South Run route takes in the iconic sites of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard including Portsmouth Cathedral, Spinnaker Tower and the HMS Victory - which has played host to the Band of HM Royal Marines, who often perform for passing runners at the iconic site. The final flat stretch along the sea front has given thousands of people the opportunity to get a personal best time for more than twenty years.
The Great South Run Route
The Bupa Great South Run starts in Southsea, on Clarence Esplanade – a road which is transformed into a sea of colours every October, as twenty-five thousand runners don their charity vests and running kit to set off on their 10 mile journey.
The course takes you through Old Portsmouth, home of the Portsmouth Cathedral and Royal Garrison Church, before entering the Historic Dockyard. Here you’re granted permission to run past the Royal Navy’s current naval ships, and some of the most famous in the world – including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the museum which houses the Mary Rose.
